i've seen other posts here regarding this same problem...but...

my problem is that i cannot connect to my server via the DWMX ftp client. i get messages in this order, "Host Found", "Waiting for Server", "FTP Error Occurred -- Cannot Make Connection to Host".

i've tried adding :21 to the end of the ftp server name; passive/not passive; different host directories; different server connections; disabling virus protection; disabling personal firewall...and nothing. i've contacted my hosting company but i also get the same error on another server (so, i'm guessing it's on my end).

i have recently moved "up" from using DW4 on Win95 (which i had no problems with) to MX on a WinXP. unfortunetly my last hard drive crashed or i would simply go back to using the OLD stuff. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

anyway, any suggestions or assistance is greatly appreciated!

FYI for anybody in a similar situation.

This solution worked for me:

Go to the Control Panel
Go to Network Connections
Go to the Properties of the Internet connection
Go to the Advanced tab
Under "Internet Connection Firewall" UNCHECK the box!

I was unaware that WinXP had it's own firewall active (under the one I knew I had installed). Turning this off resolved my problem...and hopefully yours <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>.
