im new to the web design world, and i have dreamweaver mx, what are the use of extensions and how do i get them?

Extensions are like little programs to make your web developing easier. For instance you are not a guru php or asp and would like to create a form on your site where people can ask for more information and have this emailed to you.
This is not easy to do and you can use an extension like our Smart Mailer to create such an application.

There are many extensions available to you for javascript, dhtml (to create menus for instance), php, asp etc.
Some are free, some are commercial.

Just browse around in our extensions section and download an extension and play with it. That is the way to learn.
