Prepopulating a drop down list
21 Oct 2003 14:24:50 msuk msuk posted:
All, Sorry if this is a simply question, I have one HTML page built in DW MX 2004 that contains a drop down list of names, I have another HTML page built with DW MX 2004 that has a button. Now what i want to do is when the user clicks the button it navigates to the page with the drop down list and prepopulate it with a value I send that is in the list thus saving the user from selecting it themselves.
Can someone explain how I can do this in DW MX 2004?
Thanks
msuk

Eh?
I might have missed something. You have drop down list, and you have a button on a seperate page. The user clicks on the button and is taken to the list. So what do you want to pre-populate it with? Can U give an example please.

Hi again,
Let say for example I have a feedback form and on that form I have a drop down of peoples names e.g. Fred,John,Mary,Smith.
Now lets say i have a another HTML page for 'fred' which display personal details and a button labeled 'Give Feed back' - when the user clicks on this button I want to navigate to the feedback form and set the value of the drop down to 'Fred' thus saving the user selecting it.
Thanks
Msuk

I see,
Does the dropdown menu have to be there? You can simply send the information to the form that it's Fred and not have to use a dropdown....

Yes the drop down has to be there as user can browse to this page as well and select a name.

Gotcha!
So what you actually want is a way of automatically selecting the correct name in the list?
