Does anyone have any suggestions on creating a simple search mechanism using PHP & MySQL? If you could make it simpler that'd be great. Ideally I'd like not to use any 3rd party software, but am open to suggestions. Please attach any helpful URL's if possible. Thanks

www.atomz.com/search/ is a good third party search tool. If is fully customisable, so you can make it look like your site. It even index your pages to get the search keywords.
I think if you look on macromedia site there is an extension for it.
Have a look at www.fishing4fun.co.uk the search on the left hand side is powered by Atomz.
hope it helps
