Localhost suddenly not working

While testing pages on my localhost i quite suddenly became unable to view any web pages through my localhost. Internet connection is fine. I am unable to view any pages from any existing sites on my hard drive via my localhost. Suggestion or thoughts?Thanks very much. Dhere38

I forgot to mention in my previous entry that I was using DreamWeaver MX at the time my localhost stopped working. I am curious if this did something to my IIS service.

The same happened to me. Has done my head in for ages. But think it is now resolved it.
Have you recently installed a Firewall to your computer?
That was my problem - I had just installed Norton 2003. If this is the same for you - go to the personal firewall settings then program control. My default settings had BLOCK ALL for microsoft IIS - have now changed that bit to Permit All. I don't know how safe this is, but my IIS is now working again.
Need to check on security issues for this solution though.
