When dreamweaver asks if you wish to upload or download "Dependent files", it is asking whether you want to transmit not just the page you have currently selected but all other files in your site that this page requires to display properly (e.g. images , scripts, templates, stylesheets, etc etc...). Except when you are first setting up a site , it is good policy to say "Yes" the the automatic transmission of dependent files. but on saying yes how can one turn this off later.Regards

Hi Kenny,
I think this is just personal preference, but I always turn this function off as I do not want to upload include files for example when saving a page.
You can turn this option on or of by clicking on the menu option 'preferences' under the edit menu option and then going to the 'site' option.

Definitely a preference thing, as well as a situational thing. If only edited one thing on a page, I don't want it to copy all 900K of images, includes, Flash, etc. associated with it.
I think it is good for people either getting started in web design (make sure they don't forget anything) or if you feel like you weren't sure what needs to be uploaded.
It's all good...

I'll gave this a go. - In Edit > Preferences > Site place
a check in "Prompt on get/check out" and "Prompt on put/check in". You may
need to then restart Dreamweaver to activate the changed preferences. During
FTP when prompted to upload/download dependent files, select No, this solved it. before I was getting so much proble,s uploading to my local host that I had thought I had some issue with dreamweavers API, luckly this was not the casse.
