Hi there,

I've bought and installed DreamWeaver on my PC and want to get started revamping my wedding site, which is very primitive. I have very limited html skills, and know next to nothing about using DreamWeaver. Does anyone have a recommendation for learning? I have the Missing Manual, but that seems more like a reference guide than a how-to book.

Specifically, I want to create a slide show. I downloaded an extension for creating a linked slide show, but don't know how to make it work. Can some kind soul point me in the right direction?

i personally dont use that extension, but if you downloaded it and installed it with the extension manger, then it will be in one of your menus for sure.

i started with dreamweaver 3 and found it overpowering at first, but stick with it, as its the best tool out there.

Dave

Ultradev, is there a better way to create a slide show than using the extension I downloaded?

Also, you mention an "extension manager." How do I use it?

Thanks.

to be honest considering you have very little skills in html, then your best using the extension, unless you know how to use flash (creates nice slideshows).

try >> www.cbtcafe.com/flash/index.html << and look at the "scrollpane" video, see if thats any use to you. it's not hard to do, even with limited flash knowledge.

the only other ways i know how to do it is with javascript, dhtnl, or java and they require coding experience.

the extension manager should come with your copy of dreamweaver, and it is used to install, uninstall extensions. if you have not used this before, then you have not installed your slideshow extension. You can get it in the support section of macromedia.com if you dont have it.

Dave

p.s. UltraDev is a program, UltraDav is a person <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hello there,

Extension Manager is a program that manages (install and uninstall) product extensions for all Macromedia Products. When you download an extension, just double click it and the Extension Manager will install if for you. You can find the Ext. Manager under Start &gt; Programs &gt; Macromedia.

Since you are new to HTLM and Dreamweaver, I suggest that you start by getting familiar with the beast and do at least the tutorials available under Help &gt; Getting Started and Tutorials... The book you have (the missing manual) has some great tutorials with each chapter that will get you jump started. I would avocate doing at least the first 7 chapters. Page 610 explains all about the Extension Manager.

Best of luck.

There is a pretty cool <b>Flash Album Creator</b> that I have used before... cool little app that packages a nice & clean Flash slideshow with little effort.
