Could someone tell me where to go to find out what I should use on an XHTML page to embed (I am placing flash at the moment) elements in a page?I place the flash swf file in the page automatically in Dreamweaver MX 2004, but when I validate my page Dreamweaver tells me that embed does not exist in XHTML 1.0.
(Then why did it put the embed tag in there?)
Thanks,
Denise

Hi Denise
Think it's the object tag you need for this.

Thanks Digga,
Any body else have a more detailed suggestion of where I can go to find out how to "embed" a flash file in an XHTML page that validates?

Digga,
You really do know what's up. Thank you very much. I assume most people at this point are just using the embed tag and letting it go at that.
This seems to be a new answer to a new problem.
I appreciate your help in answering this question that has been annoying me. I think I will have to study this method a bit further to figure out how to use it.
Tell me, do you use this satay method?

Hi Denise
You're welcome.
No I haven't implemented this code myself, as I've yet to embed a Flash movie in an XHTML compliant document. All of my sites/projects are XHTML compliant and so I'm aware of most the problems which developers face.
I have read about this a few times in the past and it does seem there's a mix of opinions out there about this method. Same old crap really, you can't expect to please everyone all the time and if it bothers them that much, then why don't they right their own solution - but it works, that's the answer we need. If I needed a solution to this issue, I would use this method as providing XHTML compliance quickly is more important to me than writing my own solution, which could tale forever! Hopefully in the next version of XHTML there will be cleaner/proper support for the object tag.
Take care, have fun, let me know if you come across any problems with this.
