would it be me... or the server im uploading the files to that need it?? cuz that article talks about windows nt. im def not running windows nt and there is no obvious smtp config on xp.. at least not that i know of. how would i know if the server has cdonts..?

the server you are uploading to will need the CDONTS not you.
if it has any form of scripting support for asp / php etc.. then you more than likely have it on there. check with the host just in case.
if you aint got it then you'll most probably be able to use a cgi script, as most hosts will give you a cgi-bin.

well im doing this for a client and yes, his server supports php, asp, etc.
so lets assume that everything will work correctly. now, how do i set this up? i have his smtp server address. i know i need that. and of course i have his email address. Unfotunately at the last moment my client sprung on me that i would need to recreate the forms on his site, as i thought they were working correctly. now he's given me a large sum of money for a flash presentation ive done and is giving me another large amount for the redesigning of his site and i need to deliver here. like i said before if im asking too much... just a link would be fine.
