Can anyone help -- I am not too experinced and a clinet wants online shopping for something like 8000 items. Can I use Deamweaver MX or should I use specialist software Erol3?

Yes you can use MX for creating a shopping site, however the methods of payment sometimes require specialist software and a lot depends on your clients setup, if they are already running a "normal" shop then they probably have a merchant account that allows them to accept credit cards in which case they should contact their merchant account supplier who may be able to provide sodtware to integrate with MX to accept credit cards online.
Failing that there are numerous 3rd party companies which will accept credit card payments on your behalf, such as PayPal, NoChex and WorldPay.
