I'm trying to find info on 2 techniques for FW MX.

This site has a rectangle with a corner cut off just next to the welcome text that I'm not sure how to draw a rectangle that way. Also, I can't find a dingbat or anything to make the little arrows used in the navigation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

your question has an easy solution. there are 2 basic ways of doing it.

1st way:
drag a rectangle on the stage, and using the white arrow (select tool) highlight the top right point on the rectangle, this will change to blue while the other 3 points stay white, you can now edit the position of the point using your arrow keys. deselct when you have the desired degrees.

2nd way:
using the Pen tool, click four points to roughly draw the shape of the cut cornered rectangle. then as above use the white arrow select tool, to modify the points into the correct positions.

the little arrows can be created in a similiar way, using the pen tool, or you could draw a small square and use the knife (bundled with the eraser) to cut it diagnally and voila.

Dave

just realized my html is off.. thanks for the tip on making the rectangle. i've done it a million times when resizing rectangles when i forgot to select the adjacent point.

i figured out how to make the little arrows. i knew it had to be a pre-installed character but couldn't figure it out. anyway, to make it choose webdings as your font and this one was size 12 with no anti-alias so it looks as crisp as the one on the site.

thanks for your help!

ps. was about to post another message but if you may know the answer to this i won't. i'm trying to make a dot texture fill but when i use it, i can't see them. i made a 3 x 3 px transparent canvas with a 1 x 1 px black dot. any ideas?

thanks

or you could just use webdings font

not really understanding you on the fill. where is the black dot, centered? cornered?

why not modify one the preset fills to suit your needs. if you do this, make sure to rename the new one or make a backup of the one you are editing in case anything goes wrong.
