Hi to all

A very basic question heading your way which is giving me alot of grey hairs today.
I used to FTP my pages a couple of months ago using Microsoft Windows 98 and have now upgraded to Windows XP home.
When I want to FTP pages from DreamweaverMX or Ultradev to a server.
I keep recieving an immediate "FTP Error occured - cannot open remote server." even though the Login username and Password are correct.
I have contacted my ISP and have checked all on there side and everything is in order .
I then FTP'd the site myself to see if it is actively there and working, which it is. I also downloaded MADAC 2.6 from Microsoft just in case that was the initial problem. Still, no luck.
I do not have a firewall on my PC but I do have Nortons anti-virus, I am not sure if that may be the problem.
Could kind person assist me with this, I am positive that I am overlooking something important.

thanks

Dion

if you have the ftp address, username ,password and port correct, then i'd say it was a problem with dreamweaver. which by the way isnt very good at ftp.

there are plenty of ftp software programs out there, cute ftp, flash fxp, ws ftp etc... to name a few that will do the job for you.

oh and get a firewall <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
