I'm building a calendar in ASP Javascript and I cannot figure out the most efficient way to create records to list events.

I have events that occur every week on a certain day (i.e. Monday Night Basketball). Therefore I have a record that displays on Mondays. (via getDay())

Periodically, though, I want to highlight that weekly event (i.e., Special Speaker/Basketball) and I want this "special event" record to display instead of the usual one.

Is there anyway to set this up without creating a bunch of extra records?
