Here is what I need your opinion on…((( site built in Fireworks MX 2004/ .png/ exported with hotspots for the hyper linking as .jpeg with accompanying .html file/ open it in Dreamweaver MX 2004/ edit further AKA update text/ save updates then put to the web.)))
I built the website as a .png used the hotspot knife to specify where I want to designate the hyperlinks, then I export from FW as a .jpeg and also export the corresponding .html file, then I use this .jpeg and .html file in Dreamweaver to finish up the site linking and or whatever else then save and put the site up on the domain space. I know your wondering… Why do it all this way? Well I did this site this way so as to make it look a certain way without struggling with tables and such but to also learn a new way to build a website. The only problem that I have is in maintaining the site. Because I created it using this [site origination as png method] I have found that due to a lack of knowing how to do what I am asking you for input on, anytime I make any change/update to the site .png in Fireworks I have to also recreate/re-establish all of the hyperlinks for the site in Dreamweaver on the newly updated/exported .png from Fireworks that is at this point a .jpeg and corresponding .html that both open in Dreamweaver for final touchup.

It is a lot of redundant work to have to reestablish all of the hyperlinks every time I make a change to the site at the .png level/prior to editing the site in Dreamweaver.

I am aware that there are a lot of you who may think that I am insane for even designing a website in this kind of a way and that’s cool. However I built this website in this way solely to learn something new that can be done utilizing Macromedia’s applications abilities. You can get pretty trick and if you have the time and streaming audio from shoutcast.com it is all elemental.

So if anybody out there knows what I am talking about and will take the time to tell me what I can do to keep the hyperlinks alive whilst about editing this sort of /kind of site that is not your normal run of the mill code and go site I would be greatly appreciative.

well when u use the hotspot or slice tool etc. you can specify the hyperlink in there.

are you adding the url's in fireworks, or just adding them in DW, if its the latter then you should add them in fireworks to preserve them when exported.

Dave

There was a cool extension in DW that I preferred using for doing the linking, However I will ditch this and do it in FW and export and see if I get the desired results going about it as you have suggested.
Thank you for the quick response, Happy New Year.
