Does anyone know how to make the Log In User extension password field case sensitive in ASP? I have searched the internet and I can not find it.

Thanks,

It very well could be the culprit; you might need a column type that is more literal than just regular text. Not sure what/where, it's been a while since I used Access DB's.

Hi Steve,

Although you help may well fix Jen's problem, charging people for help is not really keeping with the spirit of the 'develepers community' that this forum is based on.

My apologies to the forum,

BUT if everyone is so offended by my asking for money in return for the proper answer, why is it that so many answers came after my asking for money.

Zone Managers:
Why is that you provided so many links, ONLY after my effort to provide the answer.

Lee Diggins, as you may know, expert-exchange.com does charge administration fees for all their work, SO why are you sending this client to a PAY site.

I believe that if a "client" is REALLY LOOKING for an answer and someone can provide the service "at a cost" the "client" should be more than happy to pay, after all "time is money"

Good Luck to ALL

Steve,

I am not a "CLIENT" I am a developer. That is what this forum is for "DEVELOPERS"!

I have been using the MM behavior for login quite some time and really wanted to make the administation parts of my sites more secure. I did find the solution on my own. It isn't using code that MM supplies, but it works and I get what I needed.

Thanks for offering the assistance, but I came here for help...not to spend money. That is what forums are for. Now if I see a solution on your site that I can buy and I am willing to do that, then great. But otherwise, I don't think so.

People manage these zones out of their own free time, and we are all over the globe, so there wasn't a flood of answers to compete with your money request, we all are here on different time-zones, different days.

Hi, I need to add another comment because I believe that your forum does provide GOOD quality answers and does bring people to a central location.

I think that since you have clients using this forum, you can provide alternative sevices that may benefit ALL of us users.

EG:

I: would request an MM Extension "Case Sensitive Login"
YOU: would find a price for appropriate people to build the extension
YOU: would request all interested parties "US" to Pre-Pay an amount of money that would cover all the expenses to build the extension.
WE: the forum users that have paid into the construction of the extension, would get a copy.

COST Breakdown;
Extension build: $ 1500.00
Administration cost: $ 150.00
Total cost: $1650.00

Cost Per User: $35.00
Users required: 48

I believe that 48 Forum Users would pay $35.00 to receive such an extension.
If you had more users, the cost would be much cheaper to ALL.

Something to think about.

Good Luck
Steve

Unfortunately, I doubt people would enjoy spending $35 on <u>one</u> <i>Server-Behavior</i>. As a solo extension developer myself I make what I need, but if I were to release something to the public (free or commercial) the support costs turn out to be higher than the development costs. If an extension is released and not provide decent documentation then you get a lot of support requests/questions. And if you have good documentation that just helps sell your product because word gets out fast about solid/great extensions/help so it's a larger base = more questions/support (overhead...and we're not even talking multi-platform yet).

I can't speak for the extension development crew here (as I am not one for DMXzone), but whipping out a one-shot extension can really have its headaches!<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle> In the current market you have Login Suites (www.dreamweavermxsupport.com/index.php?type=article&pid=50&id=65) that offer 16+ <i>Server Behaviors</i> together for $30 (breaking down to $1.88 per <i>Server Behavior</i>, it's only PHP but it's one example.

So a one-shot <b>requested extension</b>, with a dozen votes/ratings, trying to sell for $35 (1-Server Behavior) wouldn't fly far... not to mention the support forums, documentation, flash video training/examples, email-replys, code re-writing/patching, testing, re-testing, re-releasing and starting the cycle all over again.<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle> *Sigh* and then someone, somewhere mentions, "I would buy it but it's not Macromedia Certified" Wow, here's we go again!<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

I wish I had an extension that has costed me less than $1500 of labor/time/resources to develop <i>and</i> be ready for showtime (release)!

I believe at least those 48 forum users would rather pay only under a few bucks (dollars) to learn <i>why, why not, and how</i> from places like <b>DMXzone's Premium Content</b> (www.dmxzone.com/categories.asp?TypeId=28).<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle> If you feel your writing would benefit the site, please upload your <b>Tutorials</b> (www.dmxzone.com/categories.asp?TypeId=2) and also you can contact the Content Manager here at DMXzone about publishing your written works possibly in the Premium Content area. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've never paid for EE answers and wouldn't expect anyone here to. This is a free resource for anyone who wished to use the forum.

Steve&gt;&gt; as for asking for payment on a FREE forum that you have absolutely no association with is a p|55 take. Try marketing your skills through your own resource instead of attempting to generate revenue on the backs of someones else's hard work and business.

Your suggestions about extensions are great, try talking to George or someone at DMXzone that can say yeah or ney!

I'd ask you to post a new Link submission (www.dmxzone.com/categories.asp?TypeId=6) here @ DMXzone stating it's 160-bit encryption option, etc., when you're comfy passing on the word-of-mouth. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
