I need to do the following at:
www.netafimusa.biz

EITHER
1. have multiple login/username form boxes on one page
or
2. use one login/username form boxs allow me to redirect user to different pages based on their username.

For example, we have 5 dealer types. Agriculture, Landscape, Greenhouse, Mining, Wastewater. Each dealer already has a dealer number which will be used as their "username". We are not using passwords.

We need them to login in from one page - but we only want Agriculture Dealers to access the Agriculture Directory, Landscape the Landscape Directory and so forth.

We have the dealer number/username in a MySQL database and/or flattext file associated with their correct division and directory.

Can you help me out?

Thanks, April Lougheed

Google for LoginDynRedir - its an extension by Jaybee Reyes
Quoted from Extension Manager
"The Login with Dynamic Redirect Extension makes minor modifications to the built in Login Behavior built into Dreamweaver MX. This modified version gives you the option to select a field from the database which contains a URL that you want specific users to get redirected to upon successful login. This extension will add the behavior to the ASP VB, and ColdFusion server models.

To access this modified server behavior, open an ASP-VB or ColdFusion document and select User Authentication via the add button within the Server Behavior panel. Notice the Log In User Dynamic Redirect which has been added to the list."

Dear Simon - I'm only able to use PHP or HTML.

I don't have Cold Fusion or ASP.

To my knowledge this extension will not work with PHP - HTML.

Am I incorrect?

Are you going to use DW MX or MX2004?

If MX2004 (7.0), then PHP/MySQL have a User Login Suite, very easy to use.

If MX (6.0), PHP/MySQL don't have a built-in User Login suite like MX2004...then you'll need to use PHakt/ImpAKT (www.InteraktOnline.com). If MX and <i>not</i> PHakt, there is at least one other 3rd party extension User login suite, I'd check on Macromedia Exchange (www.macromedia.com/exchange/).

And trust me, multiple login boxes are not needed. Creating the right database/schema is important and will allow your login system to handle all groups.

The "no passwords" part is strange; you usually want some password.

Dear Chris. I have MX 2004 and I'm working with the Login Suite.

Your post gave me a lot of confidence that I can figure out a way to do it.

Yeah, my clients want goofy things sometimes - like no passwords. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Basically, we just want the dealers to have to enter their dealer number before they can get to updated pricing information - which is behind a directory depending upon the dealer type - Agriculture, Landscape, Greenhouse, etc.

Well, guess I'll get to work!

Thanks again for the time you took to post all the info.

I'd suggest at least one secondary factor, like city. Dealer # and city, unless they really don't care someone trying to play with the login. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
