You probably will think I'm sick, but I want to know if anyone here is able to <b>run old UD4</b> (4.01) & <b>Extension Manager 1.5</b> on the same Windows machine as your MX/MX2004 apps + Extension Manager 1.6.x?!

<b>Reason:</b> there's an old UD4 extension I wish I had in MX series and I want to relook at it again, since there's no MX update nor i haven't used UD4 in almost 4yrs!

<b>NOTE:</b> Don't be like me and try to <i>just</i> install UD4 & ExtMgr 1.5 with current new apps - you'll just break your newer ExtMgr 1.6.x and hate yourself...trust me, I did it 20 min. ago and I'm not happy. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

i always had it set up like that before 2004 came out, as i was never happy with mx. so did all my coding in ultradev.

havent done it since 2004, but i used to install ud4 first, set up my extensions and then install mx,

would give me both program groups, but code would break if i opened a ud4 page in mx and vice versa.

if i just stuck to ud then everything was fine.

How would you have both versions (1.5 & 1.6.x) Extension Manager? That's what broke me here. UD4 installed fine, after dusting it off. But when I needed to add an old (UD4) extension, then it killed my 1.6.x Extension Manager. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Any more pointers?

i put my ext manager 1.6 in a different setup location.
so it didnt interfere with the existing one.

Hmm, I did it backwards, I installed EM 1.5 in a "EM1.5" folder, and I thought it would only handle the UD4 extension(s) but I was wrong...it hurt.

another solution would be to set it up on a partioned drive.

and another, to run ud on a laptop and leave mx on your desktop.

Wow, talk about over thinking it (me); thanks Dave. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Also, I reinstalled Extension Manager 1.6.x and all my MX2004 installed extensions showed up again. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
