Hi
I am designing a website that is centred and where I have
- a header
- a middle that needs the have a static left hand colum and a scrolling right hand column
- and a footer that moves to the bottom of the internet window.

The problem is I cant find a way to make the left hand column static and not scroll when the right hand column scrolls.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

The only way I can think of is frames, and IMHO that would be a retrograde step, I'll be interested to see if anyone has a better idea

Hi Alan
I found on another site using 2 divs side by side. This works however the floating footer that always sits on the bottom of the screen however big the internet wondow is wont work this way as the divs dont expand in height however big the internet screen is.

Hi
this sparked my interest as I have a problem page with a footer, so I started to have a look around - here's a couple of things I found

www.dynamicdrive.com/style/blog/entry/css-equal-columns-height-script/

this on is a javascript to equalise the heights, I might give that a try

alistapart.com/articles/multicolumnlayouts

I have used stuff off listapart before and found it really useful, so this could be good - I'm busy with a database job at the moment so can't experiment with this but I've bookmarked this to come back to asap - let us know what works in the end <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
