i need some consultaion about design werry complex application in ASP.NET

I have to design and programming a Giant applicaion in asp.net framework 3.5.

In the first phase i need to plan The structure of the
application.

My question is how to do it?
what is the correct way to do it?

is it correct to divide the system to sub application, That is create some solution and To switch between them and how to do it?
or
is it correct to create one solution with some sub application and the pass between pages are less comlex?

What is the correct way to design such a large system
Please, I must the answer as soon as possible
